Composer and lyricist Sara Bareilles was in London this week to help celebrate the release of tickets for Waitress‘ West End debut at the Adelphi Theatre in 2019.
Notable for its all-female creative team – the first Broadway show to be able to say such a thing – Waitress tells the story of a waitress and pie maker who dreams of a life beyond her menial job and abusive husband. As pointed out at the event, Waitress is the only show from 2013 other than Hamilton that is still running on Broadway, and the team is keen to repeat that success on this side of the pond.
After treating the audience at Ronnie Scott’s to a reminder of Bareilles pop career with performances of ‘Love Song’ and ‘Brave’, three tunes from the show itself were teased. Also featuring Gavin Creel, you can watch the performance below:
