Orlando Bloom stops Killer Joe performance due to iPad in the audience

Orlando Bloom wants all of your attention on the stage when you’re seeing Killer Joe, as proven by his reaction to an audience member with an iPad.

Bloom is currently starring on the West End, and eye-witness accounts say the actor stopped the show twice during last Thursday’s matinee performance to ask the audience member to put away her iPad.

According to the source, Bloom stopped to ask her to put away the tablet, and then paused again after a few minutes threatening to stop the show should she not obey. However, later reports indicated that the woman was simply using the device as a fan.

A spokesperson for the theatre said: “There was an incident at yesterday’s matinee of ‘Killer Joe’ that was dealt with swiftly and efficiently by the Front of House team. The Trafalgar Studios is a very intimate performance space, which can make the use of electronic devices by any audience member extremely distracting for the Company.

“The Trafalgar Studios’ team [does] a great job of making sure everyone at the Theatre can enjoy the live experience.”
