It’s a shock it doesn’t already exist, but a new jukebox musical based on the music of producer Max Martin has just been announced for this summer.
The show will debut on the West End and is reportedly in the ‘final stages of development’. It will be based on music created by the songwriter and producer, with orchestration and arrangements by In the Heights‘ Bill Sherman and story by David West Read (The Performers).
The casting call reads: “We are casting a new musical that is in final stages of development. Created with Max Martin, the legendary music writer and producer, the musical uses his incredible catalogue of songs as inspiration.
“Martin has written and producer for artist’s including Adele, Britney Spears, Katy Perry, The Backstreet Boys, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake, Pink, Robyn and The Weekend.”
Martin is understandably a legend in the pop world and, with a catelogue of songs such as this, it’d be almost impossible for a musical inspired by his career’s greatest hits not to be a hoot.
