The full trailer for Funny Girl starring Sheridan Smith, which will be broadcast in cinemas across the UK in October following the success of its run on the West End, has arrived.
The show played at the Menier Chocolate Factory and on tour, and was filmed by Digital Theatre during the final week of its run at the Manchester Palace Theatre. It will be released by Trafalgar Releasing.
Smith has made a name for herself as one of the West End’s best and brightest, previously starring in A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Noel Coward Theatre, Hedda Gabler at the Old Vic and Flare Path at the Theatre Royal Haymarket.
She said: “Fanny Brice was an extraordinary woman who broke the mould for female entertainment, not only that, she was a brilliant comic! Her lack of vanity and her goofiness made her unique and very special, and the role was an utter joy to play. I’m beyond excited to be able to share our production of Funny Girl with audiences across the UK.”
Michael Mayer’s Funny Girl also stars Darius Campbell (Chicago, Guys and Dolls, Gone With the Wind), Nigel Barber, Zoë Ann Bown, Martin Callaghan, Jennifer Harding, Rachel Izen, Joshua Lay and Myra Sands.
On the West End Mayer previously worked on Spring Awakening at the Lyric Hammersmith and Novello Theatre, and Thoroughly Modern Millie at the Shaftesbury Theatre.
