Woah, so music fans may be getting a treat according to rumours, as pop star Adele is reportedly being lined up to star in the upcoming film adaptation of hit musical Oliver!.
This news comes via The Sun, so take it with as much salt as you can fit between your fingers, but it seems to us like a match made in heaven. We know Adele has the pipes, and she’d also bring with her a natural cockney accent.
According to ‘a source’ (again, pinch of salt), “It would be a major part for her and she’s seriously considering it. She’s talked about [her son] being her number one priority and she sees this as a role that he could appreciate too. It would be a new challenge for her but one she would definitely be up for.”
Aside from the sketchy source for these rumours, it’s unclear whether the film itself is still in the works. Last we heard Working Title and Sir Cameron Mackintosh – the team behind 2012’s Les Miserables – were working on the project, alongside choreographer Matthew Bourne and director Toby Haynes.
More as we hear it.
