The Royal Albert Hall’s upcoming production of Guys and Dolls has announced its cast, with Adrian Lester, Jason Manford and Meow Meow all set to star.
The production will be a semi-staged version of the classic musical comedy, directed and choreographed by Stephen Mear.
Lucy Noble, artistic director at the Royal Albert Hall, said: “We’re delighted to announce the stellar cast for this very special, limited run of Guys and Dolls: Live in Concert – presented by the Hall and Fiery Angel Entertainment – with the perfect musical-comedy brought to life by some of the finest talent in musical theatre.”
Lester has previously starred in Othello at the National Theatre, Sweeney Todd and Sam Mendes’ Company. Manford made his stage debut apposite Michael Ball and Imelda Staunton in Sweeney Todd and has since starred in The Producers and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
Cabaret star Meow Meow will play Miss Adelaide, after starring in the Gielgud Theatre adaptation of The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, The Ladykillers and Kiss Me, Kate.
“It’s been a few years since I’ve been on stage and quite a few more since I’ve been in a musical, but singing at the Royal Albert Hall, backed by the Royal philhrmonic, is an opportunity too good to miss,” addded Lester. “I’m really looking forward to singing Sky Masterson as part of a great company.”
Guys and Dolls will run for three performances only in October.
